Fall lawn care checklist for Upstate South Carolina

Build your fall lawn checklist around your grass type, then put the jobs in order. Seeding, weed control, feeding, and mowing can interfere with each other when booked separately.

Start with the lawn and the soil

Identify the grass and check problem areas before ordering treatments. Note shade, standing water, bare spots, and heavy traffic. Take a soil sample so lime and fertilizer decisions have a basis.

A thin lawn may need a change in light, drainage, or mowing. Buying more fertilizer before finding the cause can waste money.

Put seeding and weed control on one plan

Fall can suit tall fescue establishment. Bermuda and other warm-season grasses need their own schedules. If seeding fescue, choose weed control that allows it and follow the label's timing. Tell the applicator about any new sod, plugs, or seed.

Our pre-emergent guide explains that conflict. For warm-season turf, read the Bermuda aeration guide before booking fall cultivation.

Clear leaves and adjust mowing

Remove heavy leaves before they smother the turf. Reduce mowing when growth slows; continue where the lawn is still growing. Keep mower blades in good condition and avoid frosted or soaked ground.

Arrange winter service

Trimly provides winter storage for leasing and mower maintenance plans. Contact us to arrange dates and access. Use the winter preparation guide to finish the turf work before storage.

Check the work included in your plan

Mowing, lawn-health treatments, leaf work, and Precision Edge are separate items to confirm in your quote. Precision Edge is a paid add-on. Check current services and pricing before booking.
