How often should you mow Bermuda grass?

Mow Bermuda as often as its growth requires. A useful rule is to remove no more than one-third of the leaf blade in a cut. Fast growth needs more frequent mowing; slow growth needs less.

Let growth set the schedule

Check the lawn between cuts. If too much grass must come off to reach your target height, shorten the gap between mowing days. Do not force a tall lawn back to its usual height in one severe cut.

Frequent robotic mowing can help maintain an even height during active growth. It still needs a schedule that fits rain, heat, drought, and use of the yard.

Choose the height before the frequency

Choose the cutting height for your Bermuda variety and site. Check that the mower can hold that height without scalping bumps or exposing soil. A lower setting can demand more level ground and more frequent attention.

Keep blades sharp. If the cut looks torn or uneven, inspect the mower and settings before increasing mowing time.

Pause when conditions are poor

Keep the mower off saturated or frosted ground. Reduce activity when the grass stops growing. Keep children and pets out of the mowing area, even when the mower runs on a daily schedule.

Set up a plan for your yard

A Trimly assessment checks the mowing area, access, terrain, and grass. The aim is a schedule that holds the chosen height without unnecessary passes. Current plans are on the pricing page.
