Robot mower safety around dogs and children
Keep children, pets, and other people out of the mowing area while a robotic mower is running. Schedule mowing when the yard is clear. Stop the mower before anyone enters to play.
Obstacle sensors can help a mower avoid objects. They do not make its moving blades safe to touch, and they do not replace these rules.
Set a safe yard routine
Choose mowing hours that fit how your household uses the lawn. Before a run, walk the area and remove toys, balls, sticks, stones, cords, and pet waste. Check for small animals.
- Keep children away from the mower, charging station, and controls.
- Keep dogs indoors or in a separate area the mower cannot enter.
- Pause mowing before opening a gate into the work area.
- Do not let a dog chase or bite the mower.
- Keep the stop control accessible to the adults who use the yard.
A gate that lets a mower pass through a fence is an access device. Do not rely on it to contain a child or pet. Check the whole fence and gate setup before use.
If someone enters the mowing area
Stop the mower. Keep everyone away until the blades have stopped. Follow its shutdown instructions before lifting it, clearing a blockage, or inspecting the underside. Never reach under a running mower.
If a mower behaves oddly, strikes an object, or has a damaged guard, stop using it and arrange service. Do not test the sensors with a person or animal.
Check the exact mower manual

Ask your installer to show you the stop control, safe lifting procedure, mowing schedule, and boundaries. Pay special attention to play areas, roads, pools, and water edges. Some areas need physical barriers or a different mowing setup.
